The New Mazda Family of Engines embodies Mazda DNA in pursuit of sheer driving pleasure. The S-VT (sequential valve timing) mechanism and high-efficiency air-intake system are key to the powerful performance at all engine speeds, superior fuel economy, low emissions and quiet operation achieved by the Mazda New I4 2.3-litre DOHC S-VT and Mazda V6 3.0-litre DOHC S-VT engines for the Atenza, and the Secret Hideout concept model’s Mazda New I4 1.3-litre DOHC S-VT engine. The New Mazda Family of Engines also includes the DIREC-D turbocharged diesel engine with its innovative common-rail injection system. This unique engine attains remarkable improvements in output and torque, fuel efficiency and clean emissions. The secret lies in the next-generation, ultra-high pressure common-rail injection system that delivers multiple small pilot injections of fuel before the main injection. Finally, the RENESIS rotary engine realizes maximum output of 184kW (250PS) even with natural aspiration, plus enhanced fuel economy and low emissions, thanks to advanced technologies such as an entirely new layout of intake and exhaust ports. |
