THE 36th TOKYO MOTOR SHOW 2002
The accelerated evolution of a cleaner car
In constant operation to serve society, commercial vehicles must be designed to minimize environmental impact. Mazda's long-term commitment to cleaner cars pays off in industry-leading new technological developments.

Titan Dash Clean Diesel Hybrid (Reference exhibit)
photo
This hybrid truck combines a newly developed next-generation diesel engine with an electric motor to further improve fuel economy. Both modes of operation reinforce environmental responsibility: the motor assistance during vehicle acceleration makes emission gases cleaner, while the energy of deceleration charges the battery.

The motor enhances both starting and passing acceleration, and uses the deceleration energy to generate electricity to charge the battery. This hybrid system, which optimizes engine and motor operation according to driving conditions, further improves emission gas cleanness.
Mazda's unique combustion technologies give this next-generation diesel engine exceptional fuel efficiency through advanced combustion management. And a serial-reproducing diesel particulate filter realizes clean emissions by further reducing NOx (nitrogen oxide) and particulates.

Titan Dash LPG Special Delivery Truck (Reference exhibit)
The Titan Dash truck for small deliveries features an LPG engine now widely favored as clean alternative energy. The vehicle complies with Japan's new short-term emission gas regulations and is applying to seven major self-governing bodies for low-emission vehicle recognition. The Titan Dash's revolutionary paint finish resists soiling and washes easily, and the truck's warning system alerts drivers to obstacles in the front and rear.
